FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEContact: Kaye Englebrecht Special Care Dentistry Association Announces 2009 Award Recipients CHICAGO – The Special Care Dentistry Association (SCDA) has announced the 2009 recipients of its, Saul Kamen Award, Harold Berk Award and Dr. Lawrence J. Chasko Distinguished Service Award. The Saul Kamen Award honors an individual who demonstrates exemplary leadership and contributions to the advancement of oral healthcare for persons with special needs. This annual award is the highest honor bestowed by SCDA in memory of one of its founding fathers. The 2009 Saul Kamen Award recipient is Dr. Dan Jolly, Immedia Dent Urgent Dntl Care, Columbus, OH. ”There are many individuals who regularly give their time and talent to SCDA committees and activities,” said Dr. Judith Messura, SCDA president. “Dan stands out in the crowd for his hard work and enthusiasm for all SCDA stands for.” Jolly is a past president of SCDA, the Academy of Dentistry for Persons with Disabilities (ADPD), the American Association of Hospital Dentists (AAHD) and the International Association for Disability and Oral Health. The Harold Berk Award, established in 1992, honors a member of ADPD for exemplary leadership and contributions to the advancement of oral healthcare for persons with disabilities. The 2009 recipient is Kathy Olson, RDH, Clinic Administrator, Milestone Dental Clinic, Rockford, IL. Olson is the immediate past president of the ADPD and was selected for this award because of her outstanding dedication and tireless efforts on behalf of oral health care for persons with special needs. The Dr. Lawrence J. Chasko Distinguished Service Award is given to an AAHD member who has noteworthy achievements at a local, regional or national level which support and promote the mission and goals of AAHD. The 2009 Dr. Lawrence J. Chasko Distinguished Service Award recipient is Paul Glassman, DDS, MA, MBA, Professor of Dental Practice and Director of Community Oral Health, University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco, CA. Dr. Glassman was chosen based on his character, dedication to the field and ethical standards, as exemplified by Dr. Chasko.
